Foundation that dreams are made of ...

Foundation. After years of searching I have finally found one that meets my (reasonable) list of demands.

I have been wearing make-up for around 8 years, yet for 7 of those, I have been completely dissatisfied with every foundation I applied to my face. The 1 year I found the perfect foundation (Chanel Perfection Lumiere), the shade I used was discontinued. Ever since then, which was around 5 years ago, I have tried more foundations than I wish count. Now, I don't know about you, but there are certain requirements that a foundation must make:

1. Colour Match! That grotesque orange line around the face doesn't do anyone any favours, but when you have a particularly round face like myself, it just enhances curves in all the wrong places. Also, when you are exceptionally pale, the possibility of this gross little orange line increases quite dramatically ...

2. It's all about the feel! That feeling where the foundation is heavy and oily is downright awful. I precisely remember getting ready for New Year 2014/5 and within one hour my face felt like it was seeping oil. Lets just say there were not many photos taken that night, and for anyone who knows me - I take photos of anything and everything!

3. Coverage! My skin goes through bi-polar phases from perfect to blotchy. Sadly, the blotching is made worse when I am stressed and since I am currently in my last two weeks of my undergraduate degree (I get butterflies just thinking about it) my stress levels are at an all time high. However, there is a bright side to this ...

It is the perfect point to try a new foundation!

And boy, did I find a hidden high street gem.

The Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation on first appearance, is ... very runny. In fact, it has a consistently closer to water than the average foundation. Yet despite this, it has proven (over the past week) to meet all three of my requirements. It may even be better than my deeply missed Chanel foundation! Firstly, the colour isn't a perfect skin match, but weirdly, this is where is really shines - it really brightens my face, giving it a very healthy complexion without any unsightly foundation lines. As you can see from the before and after pictures below, my natural paleness looks downright unhealthy and this foundation really combats that. Secondly, Maybelline have done an amazing job at creating a non-oily, light, silky feeling foundation that has amazing coverage.

All of this for the bargain price of £8!
